Because people expect it.
Everybody is using the Web today, and it’s a safe bet that your customers – and more importantly, potential customers who might find you by way of your business Web site – will expect you to be on the Web... it is the first place they will go to find out about you.
Business Web sites send a serious business signal: creating a web site that represents your business on the Web helps send a clear signal that you are up-to-date and forward-looking. Your customers and vendors are all undoubtedly familiar with the Web, and they expect you to be.
Business Web sites are available to do business. Because your business Web site is available 24/7/365 you have help to dramatically increase your marketing and sales potential.
Web sites help with business branding. You should make sure that every aspect of the web development process works to build your brand, along side your othermarketing activities. The name of your company, your logos and trademarks, E-mail signatures all contribute to effective Web branding via your business Web site.
Web sites can grow with your business. At first you may want only a small Web site, a few pages that contain a company overview, summarizes product or service offering(s) and provides address, phone and E-mail information. But you should plan for growth. Get an idea of what you're looking for in a web page layout, navigation, placement of logos and other branding materials, and so on.
By attending to these matters when you begin creating a website, no matter how simple, you will be prepared to expand your business Web site when the time comes.
